Resurrection of the 5th radio RF Gain Control

I lost the pic of the hanging cap but no big deal

Here's the old pot:

Note the arrow pointing to the nut holding the pot. It is recessed into a hole in the main chassis. There is an extension to bring the shaft out to the front panel knob. This is the only radio I've seen with this silly arrangement and it's no wonder they moved the pot to the front panel. I used a big screw driver like a chisel and whacked it with a hefty pair of pliers to knock the nut loose.

I tested the pot. It was completely useless. I got a new pot and some washers. My intent was to use the washers to move the nut out to where I could get a wrench on it. Note: See if the washers fit BEFORE you install everything.

I thought I was going to have to buy a 0.25 mmf 200 v but I found one in the junk box that's close enough:

I checked some old pictures and the schematic and discovered that the two wires go on the CW pin and the wiper. The ground goes to the CCW pin. I updated the schematic.
(This pic doesn't show it too clearly but the top two pot pins are connected. It really doesn't make much difference as long as the circuit sees a 0-10k resistor.)
