Remove the knob. Examine the variable capacitor from the rear of the radio. It's just behind a 6V6G tube.
Turn the shaft until the plates are fully meshed.
Install the knob so that it is aligned to maximum scale value of five in the counter-clockwise direction. On my radio and knob, this meant that the screw was pointed directly at the side of the radio.
