This might look like a totally unnecessary page but there are a few good tips here. The radio weighs 75 pounds, more or less, and if you're not careful, it will do damage to itself or your fingers. If you have limited space, position the thing so that the radio remains in place and the case is pulled away from the radio, not the other way around.
Suggested tools:
There are twelve screws on the front panel. The four at the corners plus the two at the top connect the radio to the case. I believe when initially shipped, there were screws on the bottom panel that connected the radio to the case but I don't think anyone ever put those back once first removed. The other two screws on each side of the front panel plus two in the middle hold the panel to the radio. Do not remove these.
After removing the connecting screws, use the screw driver to 'start' the radio out of the case by prying between the front panel and the case. If it doesn't 'start', maybe someone put the bottom screws back.
Once you have the radio 'started', use the screw driver to walk the radio out of the case. Don't put your fingers under the side panels.
Beware of letting the dial cord pullies on the top of the gearbox hit the case. They break easily are are rivited to the gearbox and I have no clue where you can find replacements. Don't ask how I know this.
When you get the radio half way out of the case, put the wood blocks under the sides to keep the terminals on the back of the chassis from coming in contact with the case. If you break the phenolic terminal mounts, you won't find replacements.
