If you're disconnecting wires to get at something below, one useful technique to us is mark the wires with colored patterns using Sharpies or whatever.
It's a LOT easier then sticky tags.
Here I've marked the wire to the S meter with two green marks.
You can use all sorts of combinations. Two red, a black and a red, so on and so on. The colors are kinda limited because you have to account for the underlying wire color too.
It's super easy to mark first, take pictures second, and then unsolder or cut.
