This page is about the switch wafers in the various SX-28 radios.
For the band switch wafers, the parts lists does not give numbers for the individual wafers - just for 'struts, type H' that go into each module.
It seems that there are only 4 basic kinds of wafers. I have assigned names: type 1, type 2, type 3 and type 4.
There are style differences but they're electrically identical.
Suitable for SW8-9 AND 10 (Mixer, next to module chassis)
SW8-12 AND 13 (Oscillator, next to module chassis)
SW8-3 and 4 (RF #1, next to chassis)
SW8-6 and 7 (RF #2, next to chassis)
Type A has only one wiper per side. Type B has two on one side, one on the other. Type C is similar to type B but the extra wiper is in a different position.
Suitable for SW8-8 (Mixer, away from module chassis)
SW8-11 (Oscillator, away from module chassis)
SW8-2 (RF #1, middle wafer)
SW8-5 (RF #2, away from chassis)
Type 2 A
Type 2 B
Type 2 C
Suitable for SW8-14 and 15 (Oscillator, located on outside of module chassis)
Suitable for SW8-14 (Oscillator, located on outside of module chassis)
On very early radios, this wafer had only on side in use. The side facing the rear of the
radio did not have any contacts. No picture of this side is currently available.
Suitable for SW8-1 (RF #1, farest away from module chassis)
This wafer is not found on very early models.
The BFO switch has one wafer that is believed to be the same on all radios. It is crimped
to the mounting bracket so no image of the side facing the front of the radio is available.
